The Glashutte Imitation Authentic manufacture was previously subsumed in the VEB Glashutter Uhrenbetriebe, a team of Imitation Glashutte watchmakers and suppliers who are collectivized contained in the former East German system. After reunification, the company used its old moniker of Glashutte Original, and then in 1995, the manufacture released a totally brand new collection. Later, it acquired the Union Glashutte brand. In 2000, the manufacture was sold to Swiss Swatch Group, which inturn invested a sizeable amount in production space expansion at Glashutte Original Headquarters. All movements are made by a team of experienced in-house technicians, while the components comprising them with not many exceptions - for example plates, screws, pinions, wheels, levers, spring barrels, balance wheels, and tourbillon cages are manufactured in very modern production areas.
These items are lavishly done personally before being put together by a group of talented watchmakers. In March Last year, the business won the timepiece of the season Award provided by the German-language wristwatch industry publication Armbanduhren for one of its latest creations, the Senator Chronometer. This can be a large and chic watch in a classic design.
